Tribute to my Beloved Friend

Never tried blogging before but the recent turn of events starting from yesterday have compelled me to put up something in his memory. Yesterday I saw the call to glory of a friend and classmate to those of us who had the priviledge of going to Corona; Ebuka Ezeanya.

This was a boy whom God had endowed with talent and skill which he was able to utilise to a large extent, something a lot of us particularly find difficult to do today. I had the honour of interacting with him on a number of occasions and I count myself lucky to have had first hand experience of his calm and mild mannered nature. Within the short time I spent with him he gained my respect and admiration for various reasons ranging from his composure to his level of generosity and selflessness.

Hearing this evening of his death, I thought it was a bad joke and resulted to further investigations only to find similar accounts and information from all my sources. It was at this point that it dawned on me that it could actually be true. Thus, this led to a period of reflection on life and the peculiar situations it throws at us that push us to the brink. Being strong in life and gaining wisdom comes from the ability to pick yourself up from these situations and learn valuable lessons from them.

Ebuka was someone who achieved a lot in his brief sojourn on earth life. The laurels he earned in his seventeen year journey are the stuff people spend their whole lives pursuing. This are excerpts from a friend's tweet. " Looking back at all the art competitions that he was entered for and all that he achieved for himself, his family and the institutions which he attended. All we can do now is pray for his soul and his family and make sure his legacy lives on and his memory remains in our hearts forever. It's only when we truly know and understand that we have a limited time on earth and that we have no way of knowing when time is up, that we will begin to live each day to the fullest, as if it was the only one we had."
